Let’s share another deserving band from our feature ‘A to Z.’ Today, we’ll look at the letter ‘F’, and the band Free!
In 1968, four lads joined forces to become a high spirited band called Free. Free was lead singer Paul Rogers, Simon Kirke, Paul Kossoff (lead guitarist) and Andy Fraser. Their biggest commercial hit was the classic “All Right Now,” which got them on stage for the memorable ‘Isle of Wight Festival’ in 1970 (where they played to 600,000 people) and there was album rock success came with the song “Wishing Well.” The boys in the band eventually broke up three years later.
Paul and Simon went on to form the super group Bad Company, while Paul Kossoff did so many drugs his heart went out at the young age of 25. Paul Rogers has toured with Queen over the years, but recently he and Simon are touring again with Bad Company. Sadly, Andy Fraser died in March of 2015.
