Baby Spice Is Back As Co-Host On ‘The Great American Baking Show: Holiday Edition’

If you’ve watched any version of The Great British Bake-Off, (like The Great British Baking Show, which is somehow the same thing, or The Great American Baking Show), you’ll know that some of the best parts about them are the judges and hosts. And though they’ve certainly gone through some changes throughout the years, this year’s GABS: Holiday Edition marks the second year we Americans will see a familiar Brit in the tent: Emma Bunton, or “Baby Spice” as she’s better known to a generation of Spice Girls fans.

Emma became a co-host of the show for the first time last year, where she joined former NFL star Spice Adams—yes, they’re both nicknamed “Spice” and it’s a baking show, get it?  If you’ve never seen a version of the show before, hosts serve as the comic relief, often doing some very adorable skits that start off the show and keep the bakers laughing and calm during some stressful bake-offs. They stay in the tent while they bake, even in blind judging, and deliver the judges’ ruling at the end.

Though this might seem like an unlikely move for Emma, this isn’t her first foray into TV competition shows: She previously co-hosted the show Boy Band and even appeared as a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars.  Thought she admittedly doesn’t bake herself, she told Rachael Ray in 2018 that this was actually her dream job.  “They bake and I eat!” she said. “It’s a dream job. It’s my dream job.”  You can catch Baby Spice and the whole cast of The Great American Baking Show: Holiday Edition every Thursday at 9 p.m. from December 12 through January 2.
