Just last week we spoke of a few teams that we thought could be real contenders for a playoff bid, but weren’t being talked about. Monday, two of those three officially named their starting quarterbacks.
Virginia Tech has to replace a ton of talent on offense and they think that Josh Jackson, a redshirt freshman, can help them get back to fighting for an ACC championship. Some thought that Hendon Hooker would potentially be the starter, but the coaching staff didn’t agree. They named Jackson the starter with almost three weeks left until their big game against West Virginia.
The other team we discussed was Auburn, who named former Baylor quarterback Jarrett Stidham their man. He was great at Baylor before getting hurt and then decided to transfer to a junior college instead of risking being the second man the following year. Stidham has three years of eligibility and could really take this team over the top with his passing talents, something that hasn’t been seen in Auburn for years.
