At Texas A&M, Girls Involved In STEM Experience

According to today.tamu.edu, high school Junior Morgan Miller and her four teammates gathered around a stuffed dog at the table. Using the toy for a reference, the girls got started on the task of  building a tool to assist owners in easily bathing their dogs. After coming up with their idea and executing it, the girls then present their idea, similar to the show “Shark Tank”. After completing a sales plan and pitching it as a part of the Gaddis Girls’ STEM Camp at Texas A&M University Miller was quoted in saying that, “I really want to get a career in the STEM field, so I’ve gone to a couple other camps just to see where in the STEM program I want to be, Gaddis Girls is really focused on engineering, and so I’m figuring out this week if I want to pursue a career in engineering.” She went on to explain that the camp is something that she would recommend for other young girls trying to decide where their interests may lie.  Camps like these are significant confidence boosters for young girls and certainly a helpful tool for navigating their interests, showing that girl power has a space in STEM.
