Adidas is Feeling the Fashion Collabs

Adidas has really been on a roll lately. Adolf “Adi” Dassler established the German sportswear manufacturer Adidas long back in 1949. Over last 70 years, the label has really evolved from its racing and football origins, becoming a multinational player in the footwear market.

The business’ earliest performance-related discovery came in 1936 within the running space, and its effect now spans football, basketball, tennis, skateboarding, fencing, and other sports. The demand of the 3-Stripes-branded sneakers has risen dramatically in recent years, thanks in part to Kanye West’s Yeezy and Pharrell Williams’ Humanrace. Apart from musicians, the brand has also joined hands with high-end fashion labels including Prada.

In 2022, the footwear giant is pushing forward its classic styles ahead with the likes of Gucci, Balenciaga, Beyoncé’s IVY PARK, and others.

Bad Bunny is quickly becoming Adidas’ most influential associate. The Puerto Rican crooner has evolved a sneaker empire since first teamed up with the shoe company in 2021, hitting multiple iterations of the Forum Low as well as his own interpretations of the classic Response CL.

In 2022, Benito recently revisited the classics with a new rendition of the iconic Forum shoe. While 2021’s “The First Cafe,” “Easter Egg,” and “Back to School” Forum releases are sold out, don’t worry. There’s a new Bad Bunny x Adidas Originals Forum, launching exclusively via the Adidas App on August 27. The new shoe comes in a sky-blue colorway inspired by the beaches and blue skies of Puerto Rico summers.

“Bad Bunny and Adidas bring the sky to your feet,” the press release continues. “[Bad Bunny x Adidas Originals Forum] represents the spirit of the artist, celebrating his creative and blue-sky thinking that has led him to become the global icon he is today.”

Speaking of Adidas, GQ‘s Samuel Hine wrote about the growing popularity of the brand’s classic Samba style within the fashion community, and how in many ways, fashion people are late to the Samba party. The Samba is considered one of Adidas’ best-selling styles, with Drew Haines, merchandising director of sneakers and collectibles at StockX, saying, “In the last two months, we’ve seen almost the same number of Samba sales as we did in the prior five months (January through May 2022) combined.” Major players in the nostalgic shoe’s resurgence include Jonah Hill, Grace Wales Bonner, Gucci and Harry Styles.
