Who would have predicted that 2018 would be the year of ABBA, given the ‘Mamma Mia’ sequel and Cher cover LP being released, bringing ABBA back into the spotlight after decades away from the spotlight? Now, Björn Ulvaeus, one of the founding members of the Swedish superstar group has announced plans on opening a new interactive Mamma Mia! restaurant in London, scheduled to open in the spring of 2019.
The theme and persona of the restaurant will replicate the restaurant seen in the actual first Mamma Mia film, used in the Skopelos island. The restaurant will be called ‘”Mamma Mia! the Party,” and have the ability to serve up to 500 guests, with a soundtrack of ABBA songs and songs from the recent movie franchise. An earlier version of the concept opened in Stockholm in 2016 with great success.
