The Beastie Boys hit the music scene in 1981, consisting of three New Yorkers; Michael “Mike D” Diamond and Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz, selling nearly 30 million records and breaking every stereotype imaginable during their career. In 2012 Adam “MCA” Yauch lost his brief battle with cancer, causing the remaining members to retire out of respect to Adam. Now, the remaining living members Mike D and Ad-Rock are writing a personal memoir that will be a must-read for music fans everywhere.
The music genre Hip Hop took notice of The Beastie Boys, who were, frankly were very different from most Hip Hop artists. Adam “MCA” Yauch, Michael “Mike D” Diamond, and Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz enjoyed great success with songs like “No Sleep Till Brooklyn,” “Sure Shot,” and “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!.”
The Beastie Boys won three Grammy’s and four MTV awards during their brief career and were admitted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2012.
