The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame finally admitted Journey after many years of making them wait. Pearl Jam and Tupac made it on their first year of eligibility. We’re happy for all the deserving inductees. However…
How is it possible under God’s Green Earth that the Cars, The Doobie Brothers, and a singer that has been eligible for 18 years, Tina Turner as a solo arrist hasn’t made it?
The Cars and Doobie Brothers created the most popular and influential music of the 70s and 80s, without exception. The Doobies dominated the charts and live festivals with lead singer Tom Johnson then sold more albums and had more hits with his replacement Michael McDonald.
The Cars had of the most influential albums, containing 12 Top 40 singles, bridging punk, rock, electric and techno in one sound. Finally, Ric Ocasek’s model/wife is reason enough to put them in the Hall.
Tina has earned nearly 60 various music awards, 8 Grammy’s, selling over 140 million records internationally. She is the eighth best-selling female singer of all time, and although she’s in the Hall as Ike and Tina Turner, she is deserving to enter the Hall as a solo artist.
