Eighties nostalgia — hello Benetton’s United Colors — pulses through fall’s brightest and cheerful knits. As seen in Benetton’s ads in the Eighties, knitwear is making a bright, bold comeback, and contemporary designers have applied bright hues and bold patterns to fall knitwear.
Chunky, vibrant knits piled up to there give a modern, sporty appeal to the cozy layers, with “American Classic” designers like St. John and Ralph Lauren jumping on board.
For his latest collection, Daisuke Obana offered up brightly colored, non-gimmicky, Christmas-like sweaters.
Meanwhile, colors are back at Benetton, which held its first runway show in Milan for the fall 2019 season, designed by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, in his lively rainbow wool blend sweaters.
Playful, nostalgic spirit was a hallmark of knitwear for fall, with United Colors of Benetton’s wool sweaters. With sultry days and shimmering nights, innovative, sophisticated knits and timeless silhouettes transport you to a state of effortless luxury and romance.
One of the main differences between now and then? Accessories! Or to be more exact, eye-catching, globetrotting embellishments inspired by ancient artisan crafts. Chunky knit sweaters are being paired with equally chunky earrings and statement necklaces. Go big or go home!
