You may have seen decorative coconut bowls on Instagram, often utilized as pretty vessels for smoothies of all colors. But in Vietnam, they are carefully crafted works of functional art. Vietnamese families make them by hand, putting their hearts and souls into their bowls.
While traveling through the country in 2016, Sophie Destrooper was immediately enchanted with the sustainable creative process behind these little treasures and joined forces with several creative spirits in Vietnam to take these pots back with her to Belgium. And so began her growing online business: P’tit Pot.
P’tit Pot decorative, yet functional, coconut bowls are available in a rainbow of colors, eggshell patterns, some studded with stones or mother of pearl, and some are lacquered. Each of these pots are guaranteed to be unique as a decorative item or a practical little pot for storing all sorts of delicacies.
But as the website describes, P’tit Pot is so “much more than just a beautiful product. P’tit Pots are made with gratitude.” Sophie’s business not only helps to support the Vietnamese families who make the creative coconut bowls, she also donates10% of her profits to children’s charities like Make-A-Wish and Children’s Cancer Foundation in Belgium.
