January DIY Projects for Your Kitchen or Bath

Is your grout gunky with unsightly mildew? Is your sink hopelessly outdated? Are you over the pale green paint you put on the walls three years ago?  Bathrooms and Kitchens make great winter projects because once they’re done, you can appreciate your handiwork every single day. And, there are plenty of ways to do it within a modest budget.

Upgrading Countertops

Countertops can be a tell-tale sign of a dated house. Participants of a recent Maytag survey prioritized upgrading their countertops to something more on-trend. If your laminate kitchen countertops are worn but still sound, give them a fresh, new look by resurfacing them. A variety of colors are available, and the process is no harder than painting.

Updating Kitchen Cabinetry

Homeowners tend to take on big projects in the winter when they’re stuck inside, including updating kitchen cabinetry. Cabinet design and details are critical in making upgrades to a kitchen. Some possibilities include painting, installing new hardward or adding a shelf up above existing cabinets for extra storage.

Work on Your Floors
Carpeting is fairly easy if you hire a reliable company to do the work.  But there are also plenty of other home flooring ideas such as tile, wood and laminate that you could also consider.
