Sunday, December 2nd marks 35 years since Michael Jackson’s ground-breaking “Thriller” music video was released. The cinematic clip premiered on MTV and launched quite the dance dance craze. The iconic red-jacket became one of the hottest fashion trends of the time, and challeneged other top-tier artists to invest in more ambitious and pricier music videos.
The 14-minute video is considered a short film to most, including Jackson himself. They shot the video on 35mm in downtown Los Angeles in the middle of the night. It was directed John Landis (National Lampoon’s Animal House, The Blues Brothers, An American Werewolf in London), and written by Landis and Jackson.
