Taylor Swift donated $15,500 to 19-year-old Sadie this past weekend, a fan whose mother has been in a coma for the past three years.
“My Mom has been in a coma for three years now. She had an ulcer that bled out that led to lack of oxygen to the brain which resulted in brain damage,” Sadie wrote in a note on Twitter earlier this month. “I’m sorry I never said anything sooner and that I’m suddenly asking for help. I love you guys so much.”
The 19-year-old’s heartbreaking letter outlined how serious her family’s current situation is. “We take care of her at home full time, my dad is unable to work because he has to always be with my mom,” Sadie continued. “My older brother and I have to provide for our family, my family is in trouble.”
The 28-year-old pop star did not hesitate to help Sadie by contributing $15,500 to the family’s GoFundMe page. Along with Swift’s support, more than $25,000 has been raised for Sadie’s family.
