‘Happytime Murders’ and ‘Pitch Perfect’ actress Elizabeth Banks is about to do something rare in the film industry, producing and directing a film about Prince, a film that won’t actually feature Prince. ‘Queen for a Day’ is based on the 2017 article ‘When Prince Made a Chambermaid His Queen For a Day’ a story that will remind you of the 50s ‘Bye Birdie’.
In both cases, an average girl wins a date with the day’s heart throb. In ‘Queen for a Day’ a young motel worker from Wyoming wins a date with Prince. As in the 50s version, Prince comes to Wyoming, causing an uproar from the locals, driving the city wild with anticipation and unexpected complications.
