Can you believe that it’s already mid-August?! Time flies during the summer and now we’re looking at less than two months of regular season baseball to enjoy. The playoff race should be an intense one and there are a few teams out there that are really separating themselves from the rest. Let’s take a look at the playoff race as it currently sits…
Boston clearly leads the American League East, which is a shame for the Yankees. Even though they have the second best record in baseball, they’re currently one of the two wild-card teams as it currently stands. Cleveland has over a 12-game lead over their AL Central constituents while the AL West has itself a three-man race with the Astros, A’s, and Mariners all battling it out. The Astros are two games up on the A’s and 4.5 games up on the Mariners for the division.
The best record in the National League goes to the Cubs, who have themselves a battle on their hands with the Brewers three games back and the Cardinals five back. The Braves and Phillies are going to be battling it out the rest of this season, as they’re just one game away from each other with the Braves leading the way at this time. Finally, The NL West race has to be the hottest of them all. There are four teams within five games of the division with the Diamondbacks leading the way over the Rockies, Dodgers, and Giants.
