Recently Pepsi has chosen to use Ray Charles, Britney, and Michael Jackson, the ‘King of Pop,’ for its new campaign. The Michael Jackson ‘tie-in’ reminds us how significant Michael remains in pop culture, and news that the King of Pop will be on a Broadway stage (in a musical of course) didn’t surprise us.
We hear now that Michael will star in a musical based on his life story, targeted to open in 2020, detailing his incredible life; from Gary, Indiana to Los Angeles. The estate of Michael will join forces with production company Columbia Live Stage to create the spectacle. The script is in the capable hands of Lynn Nottage a winner of the Pulitzer Prize and will be directed by Tony-winner Christopher Wheeldon.
