The MLB standings as of today are pretty lopsided. The best teams in baseball are clearly in the American League! We’re not quite sure what it is, but there are zero teams in the National League with 45+ wins while there are four in the American League. The AL may be a little top heavy, but the eye test also agrees with the talent on those four teams.
The American League is led by the Yankees, Red Sox, Astros, and Mariners. With stars like Giancarlo Stanton, Jose Altuve, and Mookie Betts, it’s no surprise the first four are successful. The Mariners are the lone outlier in the group, possessing no young star hitter but instead having a few guys who are maximizing their game. Jean Segura hitting .340 is a surprise, and a nice one to say the least.
The National League does have some talent with teams like the Braves, Cubs, Brewers, and Diamondbacks all owning 40+ wins. We like the Cubs the most to no one’s surprise. They did win a World Series just two years ago! The Braves intrigue us, but they’re a little young while the Diamondbacks and Brewers are pleasant surprises but we wonder if they can hold up their greatness.
