Although the band Fleetwood Mac underwent 11 different lineup changes until Lindsey and Stevie made the band world famous, one of the guitarists that had a major impact on the band in the early years was Danny Kirwan; Danny has died of unknown cause in London at the age of 68.
Danny Kirwan joined Fleetwood Mac before the age of 20, becomming a member of the Mac from the years 1968 and 1972, making his presence known in either writing or co-writing songs from their albums ‘Then Play On,’ or ‘Bare Trees.’ Danny left Fleetwood Mac to pursue a solo career that never took off, suffering from mental disabilities and becoming homeless on and off for decades, living in a homeless hostel in recent days.
Danny Kirwan is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, voted in with his Fleetwood Mac bandmates in 1998, although he was not present for the ceremony. The next time you think how wonderful it must be to be a rock and roll star, look back at the lonely and difficult life of Danny and realize it’s all part of a tough life.
