The Outfield’s Tony Lewis has been back in the news recently, releasing his first single “Into the Light” coming from the LP ‘Out of the Darkness,’ which drops June 29th. We often forget how talented Tony is, as he wrote each and every song on the 12-track album, playing every single instrument. Sadly, bandmate and friend John Spinks died in 2014. Tony Lewis’s latest album ‘Out of the Darkness,’ again is available June 29th. Here are our three favorite Outfield tunes…
“Your Love” from the ‘Play Deep’ LP’ was the band’s first big hit, although it tanked in the UK. The song was written by the departed John Spinks in 1985 and an MTV most requested tune.
“Since You’ve Been Gone” from 1987’s ‘Bangin’ album was a top 10 tune in the US, a top five song in Canada, and inspired the eventual tour that summer.
“For You” from their fourth studio album Diamond Days in 1990 was the band’s last top 20 single and gave the boys a few more years of relevance, plus it’s a great song.
