‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ Still #1 But Fading, But Not Dolly Parton

In movie news this past weekend, the new was not “whose number one” but “how much of a drop did the latest Star Wards movie suffer”? Yes, Disney and Lucasfilm’s ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ dipped 65% this weekend; earning over $160 million worldwide at the box office. The Ron Howard directed Solo: A Star Wars Story did earn nearly $31 million this past weekend. The news overseas, however, is not as optimistic for the Star Wars installment, as ‘Deadpool 2’ edged ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ in non-US box office receipts.

‘Deadpool 2,’ ‘Adrift,’ ‘Avengers: Infinity War,’ ‘The Book Club,’ ‘Upgrade,’ ‘Life of the Party,’ ‘Breaking In,’ ‘Action Point,’ ‘Overboard,’ and John Krasinski’s ‘A Quiet Place’ rounded out the top 10 this past weekend.

Netflix has just ordered eight episodes of Dolly Parton greatness based on her incredible life. She’ll star and serve as the executive producer for the eight-episode project. You may remember a few years ago the made for TV movies ‘Coat of Many Colors’ and ‘Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love.’ No date for the premiere has yet to be released.
