Lionel Richie is from the great state of Alabama, attending college on a tennis scholarship before starting a band called the Commodores, a decision that would alter the course of history for himself and pop music forever. You may have read Lionel’s disclosure of how the loss of his dad caused him to fall into a deep depression over the year. Now some good news for the man.
We have word that Lionel will be honored at the UN by the Auburn University’s College of Human Sciences in December. Richie’s honor is the result or recognition for those who have made long lasting contributions to family and communities around the world.
Previous wines have been Archbishop former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, NBA and Auburn legend Charles Barkley, Desmond Tutu, and Apple CEO Tim Cook.
Lionel will be presented with this prestigious award December 3rd in New York City at the United Nations.
