This past week Ellen DeGeneres surprise the world while interviewing James Shaw Jr., the young man that stepped up and stopped the Nashville Waffle House shooter from taking more lives a few weeks ago; during the interview Ellen brought onto the set Shaw’s favorite NBA player, Dwyane Wade.
What are a few other Ellen Surprises over the years?
Last year Ellen surprised an teach by the name of Ekhlas Ahmed, a refugee from Sudan, with a check that paid off her student loans. In 2017, Ellen worked with Walmart giving 42 students from the Brooklyn Summit Academy charter school four-year scholarships.
Still fresh in the families mind, Ellen surprised a Pennsylvania family in need with a $200,000 check. She’s surprised Mason Ramsey, an 11 year old whose yodeling in Walmart went viral. Ellen put the WOW on the child with a $15,000 scholarship and an invitation to perform at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.
