The band ‘Sly and the Family Stone’ from the Bay area in the 60s were one of the most influential and successful soul/pop/rock bands of all time. Now, there’s going to be a film about the life and times of Sly Stone, featuring songs that have never been heard before, footage of concerts and early life and times, and more. Details of the documentary are sketchy at this time, but the film is definitely in the green light zone.
Sly Stone began as a child performer in the early 60s, primarily in a gospel quartet with his brothers and sisters, then getting on the air as a radio personality while burning the midnight oil as a struggling musician. If you loved “Stand” or “Dance to the Music” then you’ll want to keep your eyes open for news about the Sly Stone film yet to be named or given an open date.
