Film and Music: A Great Marriage

Let’s take a look at the best marriages between Hollywood and music, the films that leveraged the day’s top tunes to really add a punch to the script…

‘Almost Famous’ is one of the best rock and roll movies because it rolls back the curtain on musicians who are on the road, and reveals just how empty their lives are. Everyone remembers the bus scene with Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer’ generating a group sing along. If you loved the music from the 80s, this Cameron Crowe classic is for you.

‘Footloose’ and ‘Top Gun’ reveal the tops tunes from the 80s, a generation of songs that remain relevant today. It’s hard to find more number one songs used in both of these movies, and Kenny Loggins starred in both films with top 10 songs.

‘The Bodyguard’ was an incredible vehicle for Whitney Houston, ‘Flashdance’ a wonderful ride for the best artists from the 80s, and “Boogie Nights’ featured songs like “Machine Gun” from the Commodores, “Spill the Wine” from Eric Burdon and the Animals, with the Beach Boys, Night Ranger, and ELO adding their 70s hits.
