Dire Straits’ Mark and David Knopler Are Not Coming?

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony for the class of 2018 is right around the bend, held at the Public Auditorium in Cleveland on April 14th. This year’s class included The Moody Blues, Bon Jovi, The Cars, Nina Simone, and early influence Sister Rosetta Tharpe.

Oh, and the Dire Straits are also in the class, but we hear that founder and front man Mark and brother David Knopler are not planning on being at the ceremony. How can that be?

On David’s Facebook page, he indicates that the Hall has decline to pay the expense for travel for he and his brother Mark, and they’re simply not coming. Dire Straits began in London in the late 70s, with original members Mark Knopfler, brother David, Pick Withers and John Illsley. Dire Straits broke up in 1995 as Mark yearned for a solo career, which he did pursue with great success. We’ll keep you updated on the potentially changing status of the Knopfler brothers as we get closer to the ceremony.
