Madonna Set to Direct Ballet Biopic

The material girl Madonna is going to direct her third film this year, a project called ‘Taking Flight,’ a movie about the international ballet star Michaela DePrince, the woman who appeared in a recent Beyoncé’s ‘Lemonade.’

Michaela’s life story is moving, orphaned at an early age in Sierra Leone during the country’s civil war; she was adopted by a Jewish family in New Jersey. The family had already adopted 10 children before Michaela, but the emotional and loving support of the DePrince family carried her to adulthood and stardom.

Madonna has influenced modern music, fashion, and the social conscience for over 40 years, and is looking forward to creating the ultimate biopic about a one in a million ballet dancer who beat the odds to rise to stardom. ‘Taking Flight’ will bring in Camilla Blackett to adapt the screenplay, the film will be produced by MGM and begin its early stages mid-summer.
