The Irish supergroup U2 is abroad, with news that Dublin has added more shows this week. Did you know that Bono is the only artist to have the distinction for being nominated for a Grammy, Golden Globe, Nobel Peace Prize and an Oscar? Plus, he was given the Honorary Knighthood from the Queen of England in 2007. Bono’s real name is Paul Hewson. Bono Vox means Good Voice.
During one of U2’s first dates outside Ireland, they played a gig at the ‘Islington’s Hope and Anchor’ event to a crowd of only nine people.
U2 won a local talent show on St. Patrick’s Day in Ireland in 1978; the prize consisted of money and studio time which the boys used to get their first record label interest. What a ride it has been!
