Carrie Donates $10,000 to Childhood Friend in Need

Carrie Underwood is a giving star, a woman who hasn’t forgotten her roots, or takes her good fortune for granted. This week, Carrie donated $10,000 to help a childhood friend by the name of Justin Durrett, a Checotah Assistant Police Chief who is in the ICU after a rollover crash on February 11th.

Carrie and Justin were pals when the two were growing up, attending the same church, hanging around as kids. While Carrie went on to stardom, Justin became a police officer; he’s a father of two and a 13-year veteran of the force. It’s hard to be in the ICU at the age of 35, but Carrie has a loving heart.

Justin’s friends and family started a ‘GoFundMe’ page and Carrie donated the money using her husband’s last name, Carrie Fisher, but word got out it was her which has generated more publicity and charitable donations.
