Let the Doobie Brothers in the Hall

Bon Jovi, the Cars, the Moody Blues, and Dire Straits are headed to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year. There are deserving bands that have been snubbed though…

The fact that The Doobie Brothers are not yet in the Hall is ridiculous! In the 1970s the industry was struggling to find success outside the disco era, the Brothers paved the path for folk, California, and pop rock when others failed.

The Doobie Brothers are in the Vocal Group Hall of Fame as of 2004 but must be in the Hall to fully recognize their contributions to rock and roll. If you didn’t like the original Tom Johnston and Patrick Fitzsimmons Doobies, you had to love the Michael McDonald Doobies.

“Takin it to the Streets,’” “Listen to the Music,” “Long Train Running,” and “China Grove” were the biggest hits from the Tom Johnston early days, while “Minute by Minute” and “What a Fool Believes” were rock anthem from the Michael McDonald version. Let the Brothers in the Hall of Fame, please!
