The Bee Gees are about to release a concert film from their 1989 live show, recorded at the National Tennis Centre in Melbourne, Australia. It’s called ‘One for All Tour: Live in Australia 1989’ and will be released on Blu-Ray and DVD early February. In our opinion, here are the top Bee Gee songs of all time…
“Lonely Days” from November 1970 is easily our favorite tune. The construction of the song proved their studio genius; it hit number one everywhere and written in 10 minutes. The song seems to borrow a certain Beatle style.
“Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack,” “Stayin’ Alive,” “How Deep is Your Love,” and “You Should Be Talking” are all amazing hits as well. As the story goes, Stigwood called the Bee Gees while they were recording in France, telling them he was working on a movie, needing a soundtrack; did they have anything? They lied of course and told them they had plenty. They immediately hung up and wrote the majority of songs that weekend.
“To Love Somebody” is the song of songs; written originally for Otis Redding until his death, the recording embodies the family. When Barry leaves this earth to join his brothers, the heavens will be playing this song upon his arrival.
P.S. congratulations to Barry for being elevated to Knighthood by the UK and Queen!
