One week after being admitted to the hospital for kidney and liver failure, one day after our initial update, teen singing sensation and ‘Partridge Family’ star David Cassidy has died at the age of 67. Surrounded by family and friends in a Florida hospital, David succumbed to liver failure.
David was the son of actor Jack Cassidy, growing up with his father in suburban New Jersey, learning his father’s craft. Before we knew him as Keith Partridge, David did stints in shows like Bonanza and Marcus Welby, M.D. David was one of the most popular television actors before the age of 20, leveraging his role on the Partridge family to expand his singing career; he was one of the first to sell out stadiums and New York’s MSG before the age of 25.
2017 had already been a tough year for David, confessing to a magazine in February that he had been diagnosed with dementia, and would get off the road. Sprinkle in a few DUIs in 2016 and 2017, and you have what must have was his toughest run.
