The 51st Annual CMA’s is tomorrow night, 8 pm, EST on ABC, hosted by Brad and Carrie. You know there’s bound to be a memorable moment from the broadcast. Let’s take a look back at a few ‘most talked about’ moments from previous CMA’s…
It’s hard to believe now, but in 1972, Loretta Lynn earned a historic win at the CMAs, becoming the first woman to win ‘Entertainer of the Year.’ Carlie Pride was the first African American performer to win this same award in 1971.
While we’re speaking of the ladies, the entire country world was shocked in 1974 when Olivia Newton John won ‘Female Vocalist of the Year.’ The reason for the uproar is that the award was expected to go to one of these three superstars; Dolly, Loretta or Tanya.
Rock artist Sting performed a duet with Toby Keith in 1997. For some reason, the CMA’s were not held in Nashville in 2005, but in New York City, where Garth Brooks came out of retirement to perform.
