Beginning November 17th, you’ll be able to own the entire 12 LP box set called ‘The Vinyl Collection’ of the Carpenters that includes their 1969 debut, ‘Ticket to Ride,’ to their 1989 ‘Lovelines.’ We did love these two…
In the early 70s, a brother and sister from Downey, California formed a jazz band called the Richard Carpenter Trio and Spectrum (Richard on keyboards, Karen on Drums) but we know them better as the Carpenters. These two broke all the rules and crashed the progressive sounds on the charts to get airplay and earn the music world’s highest awards.
Although Karen Carpenter died in 1983 of cardiac arrest brought on by her years of battling Anorexia, she and her brother made history in the short time they recorded and wrote music. The brother-sister duo sold nearly 76 million records at a time when rock and roll ruled the airwaves and in store sales; there will never be another Richard and Karen Carpenter.
