The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced its 2018 nominees, frankly honoring those that should have been serious consideration years ago. The list includes 19 deserving artists, nine nominated for the very first time.
One of the nominees is the supergroup the Eurythmics. Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart met in the mid-80s, cranking out hit singles like “Sweet Dreams,” “Here Comes the Rain Again,” “Would I Lie to You,” and “Missionary Man.” The two earned Grammy, MTV, and Brit awards, and were inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005. The Eurythmics have sold over 75 million records, releasing nine studio albums and five compilations along the way.
This year’s class of hall of famers will be announced in December with the actual ceremony taking place on April 14 next year, in Cleveland of course.
