The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced its 2018 nominees a while ago. The list includes 19 singers or bands, nine nominated for the very first time. One of the nominees is the group the J. Geils Band.
John was born in New York City, getting his first taste for music playing the trumpet in his high school marching band. He would eventually pick up a guitar, becoming a fairly talented blues and jazz guitarist. The J. Geils Band would eventually release eleven albums between 1970 and 1985. The band sold millions of records, and their biggest tunes were “Centerfold,” “Love Stinks,” and “Freeze Frame” from the early 80s. Sadly, John died of natural causes on April 11, 2017.
The Rock and Hall of Fame will announce its 2018 class this December, with the actual induction ceremonies scheduled for Cleveland April 14, 2018.
