How It All Began for Julia Michaels

Julia Cavassos (we know her as Julia Michaels) was born in Davenport, IA in 1993, which makes Julia Michaels only 23 years old; her hit single “Issues” has been on the charts for nearly 25 weeks. Julia’s family moved to Santa Clara, CA at an early age where she and her sister Jaden began to write songs after school. It became apparent Julia had a knack for writing pop songs before she hit the age of 19, but her big singing moment was performing her song “Carry Me” at the closing ceremonies of the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro Brazil.

Julia was a prolific song writer, having well known established artists the likes of Demi Lovato, Gwen Stefani, Fifth Harmony, Selena Gomez, and Hailee Steinfeld record her songs over the past few years.

Julia wrote “Issues” a while back, and many of the artists she had written songs for pusher her to give the song to them; she declined to hand the song off to anyone, simply because she felt the song was too personal for anyone but her.
