Rockers We’ve Lost Too Soon

In recent weeks we’ve lost Gregg Allman, Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell and Mario Maglieri the owner of three Los Angeles’ clubs on the Sunset Strip: the Whisky a Go Go, the Rainbow Bar & Grill and the Roxy Theatre, and J. Geils.

Most of the deaths of our favorite stars have been typical, yet there have been a few odd final moments… Terry Kath accidentally shot himself with a gun as he told friends at the table the gun was unloaded, while singer Randy California of Spirit drowned in Hawaii while saving his son from drowning.

Sure there are bound to be deaths by bad choices, alcohol and or drug use; Brian Jones who had a well-known drug problem, drowned, and listed as ‘death by misadventure’ and Sid Vicious passed away, a drug overdose administered by his mother.

The saddest and more interesting deaths comes in the loss of Randy Rhoads, a stellar guitarist who played Ozzy Osbourne and Quiet Riot. Randy was an avid flying and prankster, and decided to buzz the Ozzy tour bus while on tour in Leesburg, FL. The problem is that on the fourth tree level pass he clipped the bus and spun out of control into a tree, then the home a few feet away.
