One of the best concerts to take in this summer is the ‘United We Rock’ tour, combining super groups Styx, Don Felder formerly of the Eagles, and REO Speedwagon. It’s a shame that only Don Felder is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Eagles, and Styx and REO have yet to get the call. REO has sold over 50 million records, earned number one songs with “Can’t Fight This Feeling,” “Keep On Loving You” and “Take It on the Run.”
REO Speedwagon began as a bunch of University of Illinois at Champaign freshman meeting at a kegger, talking about their musical dreams. They decided to leave school and start a band! Yes, the band is named after the REO Speed Wagon, and yes it’s the only name they ever used.
Their first official gig while still attending class was an off campus pool party that ended up in a food fight. The band persisted over the years, reaching fame and fortune on their own terms. Here are a few of the upcoming ‘United We Rock’ dates, featuring REO Speedwagon…
