Just yesterday former Soundgarden lead singer Chris Cornell unexpectedly died at the age of 52 in Detroit after a concert. Now, we have learned that the medical examiner is listing his death as a suicide.
The details of his death had been kept secret up till today, but evidence now confirms that Chris died by hanging, a suicide. Soundgarden rose to popularity in the middle of the grunge wave from Seattle, the groups LP ‘Superunknown’ even received a Grammy nomination for best rock record of the year. The band broke up in 1997, with Chris venturing on a solo career for only one year before becoming the front man for Audioslave. That band released three LPs before breaking up in 2007.
The life of a rock star has its ups and downs, yet Chris remained optimistic about his career and personal life up until the end. No one can explain the sudden decision by Chris to end his own life, but we’ll miss his voice and smile forever.
