Bryce Harper had one year left of arbitration and that deal has officially been finalized as of this weekend. He signed the largest one-year deal ever, $21.625 million with the Washington Nationals! This is an unheard of number, but Harper has been a star for the Nationals since he made his debut years ago and is playing an MVP right now for them. Harper is hitting over .370 with double-digit home runs on the season.
Harper is set to become a free agent after the 2018 season where some think he’ll sign a deal over $400 million. His deal after the 2018 season will likely be the biggest one ever and with good reason. Harper has hit over 130 home runs, 130 doubles, has a career batting average of .283 and nearly 60 stolen bases in six seasons with the team. He has done all of this and he’s only 24 years old!
What a monster deal for this monster player. We can only imagine what his next deal will be like!
