Celebrating Canada’s Best in Music

Have you ever been to Canada? It’s a beautiful wide open country filled with incredibly nice people. Canada is our best friend to the north, and we wanted salute a few Canadian singers and songwriters. Remember, Justin Bieber is also from Canada, so let’s not get too excited here.

We know that Bryan Adams, Anne Murray, the Guess Who, and Gordon Lightfoot are Canadian. Each of these wonderful singers gave us memorable songs and albums to enjoy. Did you also know that Paul Anka, Barenaked Ladies, Alanis Morissette, Michael Bublé, Nickelback, David Lettermen’s Paul Shaffer, Shania Twain, and actor William Shatner are Canadian? Shatner did record five albums during his acting career.

Here’s three fun facts about Canada and it’s music: Paul Anka wrote the theme song for the Tonight Show for Johnny Carson, a song that paid him over $600 thousand dollars per year in royalties. The Juno Award is the Canadian equivalent of the Grammy, and Nova Scotia native Anne Murray has been nominated and won the most Juno Awards.
