Remembering Elton John and His Unique Style

Elton John just celebrated a birthday and had the likes of Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder perform for him and his party. Let’s talk a little more about him…

Elton went through quite a fashion phase in the 70s and 80s. On the ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ album cover (and supporting live shows) Elton is seen in gaudy high heel platform shoes or boots. We would love to have those boots now, but fashion continues to evolve, so those days are gone.

News out of the business world last week that Nike is creating a signature line of sneaker just for Elton called the Air Force 1 Jet. The color of the shoe is silver, the word ‘Sir’ can be found on the back (He’s a Sir, a Knight by way of the Queen) and has a colorful overall design, reminding us of the crazy 70s.

Here are a few more things about Elton you may not have known… Elton taught himself the piano at the age of four. His first job was not that of a singer, rather a song writer. Elton answered an ad looking to hire a song writer. He got the gig and met Bernie Taupin, leaving that song writing job to create his first LP ‘Empty Sky,’ a collection of Elton and Bernie tunes.

Finally, John and his longtime partner David Furnish were wed December 21, 2005, the day the ‘Civil Partnership Act 2004’ became law. They are deeply devoted to two children which were adopted over the years.
