Hank Williams’ Great Impact to Country Music

Hank Williams died well before his time, sadly losing his battle to the devil in the bottle, leaving this warm earth in 1953. If we credit Hank for singing and performing for 10 years, you have to ask just how big of an influence was Hank? The answer can be found in the simple fact that he’s in the most prestigious halls; the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Country Music Hall of Fame, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Although Hank was born in Born in Mount Olive, Alabama, he would move to Georgiana, Alabama, where he befriended met Rufus Payne. The two became fast friends, and Rufus taught Hank the guitar, giving him the foundation of country music.

Every year in Georgiana Alabama is the ‘Hank Williams Festival,’ and this year will mark the 38th year for the festival. Scheduled to perform will be Gene Watson, and a great list that has yet to be released. There’s a museum and more to make you smile, so plan on taking in a day and checking out the Hank Williams Festival June 2nd and 3rd, in Georgiana, Alabama.
