It’s hard to believe that the artist we’ve known as ‘Prince’ has been gone a year this upcoming April. There always seems to be something going on involving him even though he passed almost a year ago. Let’s talk about his actual work though. Here are our three favorite tunes…
“When Doves Cry” from the 1984 Purple Rain LP, the song is considered the biggest breakthrough to his commercial acceptance. This classic song was inspired by his relationship with Susan Moonsie of ‘Vanity 6.’
“Kiss” is considered to be the best single in 1986, having sold over 1.6 million copies to date. The video was a smash, inspiring Tom Jones to cover the song in the late 80s with great chart success.
“Purple Rain” is perhaps the signature tune from the album of the same name, released in 1984 at the height of his popularity, and MTV’s brightest days. The movie of the same name grossed over $80 million worldwide, but took less than $8 million to make.
