The Very Best Rockers From the Windy City

This summer, why not visit the windy city of Chicago? What were the best to come out of the city on Lake Michigan?

Obviously the band Chicago is from Chicago, recently inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016. How’s this for success; over 125 million in record sales, yet only one Grammy (“If You Leave Me Now”.”) Only one original member was actually born in Chicago, and Terry Kath accidentally shot himself to death in 1978.

Earth Wind & Fire was founded by the late Maurice White with over 100 million in record sales, and induction into the Rock and Roll, Vocal Group, Songwriters halls of fame. They also have a Hollywood Walk of Fame star.

The 60s Buckinghams, Shadows of Knight, Impressions, Five Stairsteps, and Coven are also from the Windy City.

The 80s and 90s band Survivor began in Chicago, selling over 40 million records and having tremendous popularity with the rock ‘Rocky Genre’ theme “Eye of the Tiger.” Founding member Jim Peterik was the lead singer of the 60s/70s group ‘Ides of March.’

Jennifer Hudson, Richard Marx, and Kanye West also hail from the Windy City.
