Butch Trucks, Allman Brothers Drummer, Passes

2016 was a devastating year for losing our favorite stars and now 2017 is off to a sad start. Butch Trucks, the original Allman Brothers drummer, has died at the age of 69. The cause of death is unknown.

Claude Hudson “Butch” Trucks, born in Jacksonville in 1947, began playing drums while in high school, joining Englewood High School’s band. Butch also played in two marching bands, choosing the tympani. Butch is considered one of the founding fathers of beat for Sothern Rock, a genre that dominate the 70s.

He and fellow drummer, Jai Johanny Johanson, laid down the beat of the best southern rock produced in the early 70s and 80s. The Allman Brothers recorded 18 LPs including the legendary ‘At Fillmore East.’

Butch stayed with the Allman Brothers Band until they disbanded in 2014.
