Celebrating What Would Have Been 82 Years of Elvis

Sunday is the 82nd anniversary of Elvis Presley’s birth. Elvis has been dead since August 16h 1977, yet his influence and sound can be heard every day.

Sure we knew that Elvis was born a twin (his brother died at birth) and that he drove a truck before hitting it big as a singer. But, did you know that…

Elvis almost died in a Tupelo tornado in 1950.

Elvis was a big fan of “The Tonight Show” until Johnny Carson made a joke about his weight which enraged him.

You might not think Elvis had a sense of humor, but the ‘Memphis Mafia’ was well aware of his ability to prank. Did you know that he would dress up like a police officer, drive around Memphis, stop motorists, and instead of giving tickets (which he could not do of course) he would hand out autographs.

On the last day of Elvis’s life, in fact his last words, in his last few minutes on earth while heading off to the bathroom (where he would later be found dead of a heart attack) he said aloud “This is going to be my last concert tour.”
