Learning More About A New Hall of Fame Band

The 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class was announced last week, and it includes a bunch of deserving inductees. Joan Baez, Electric Light Orchestra, Journey, Pearl Jam, Tupac Shakur and Yes will be enshrined at Barclays Center in New York this spring.

Let’s share more about the band Yes…

The band began in London with Jon Anderson and the late (2015) Chris Squire. Over 19 different musicians have been in the Yes lineup since the journey began. Chris wasthe only original member to have played in every generation of Yes.

Like most great rock bands, the group began playing in small pubs under the name of ‘Mabel Greer’s Toyshop.’ Peter Banks suggested the name Yes which he thought was short and positive, so the other members of the band agreed, knowing that the name Yes was only temporary until they could come up with something better. Peter died in 2013 at the age of 65.

Yes members walking into the Hall are Jon Anderson, Tony Kaye, Bill Bruford, Alan White, Steve Howe, Trevor Rabin, Chris Squire (posthumously) and Rick Wakeman.
