Predicting the Year’s Final Four

Tuesday night the top four teams in the college football playoff were announced with no real surprises. The top four teams in order were Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson and Washington. Is this how you would rank them at this point and time? We agree with the rankings, but think a lot can change this weekend. Allow us to predict the weekend’s action and what happens because of it.

Alabama goes into the weekend almost a four-touchdown favorite over Florida and we think that’s about right. The Crimson Tide will roll this one and head into the playoff as the number one seed.

Ohio State is off until bowl season and we think their win over Michigan was enough to solidify them as the number two seed.

Clemson has a tough matchup against Virginia Tech, a team with nothing to lose. This could be deadly and in fact, we think it will be deadly. How many teams has Clemson survived a close game against a big underdog? Well Virginia Tech has the offensive firepower to match up with Clemson and has a defense that can force turnovers. Clemson loses this one in our eyes opening up a spot for Michigan as the four seed (sorry Penn State).

Washington and Penn State both win their conference championships, but Washington gets in as the number three seed because of having just one loss. How do you put Penn State in the final four over Michigan when both have two losses and Michigan beat them handily earlier this season? We don’t think Penn State gets in and we expect plenty to be upset about it.
