Gigi Hadid had the pleasure of hosting the American Music Awards on Sunday night and as award shows always do, she pushed the limits to attempt to be funny. She might have taken it too far though after her impersonation of Melania Trump, President-elect Donald Trump’s wife.
During the show she mocked Melania with pouty lips and a bad accent. She at one point mocked Melania’s speech where she used lines from a previous Michelle Obama speech. After a few days of letting it be, Gigi has issued an apology via Twitter.
She writes that it was all in good fun and that she didn’t mean anything by it. Gigi also said that she’s been in Melania’s shoes before and chose to look at it as a joke and nothing else. She said that she was “able to find the humor in it.”
